Alicia got engaged last August and asked Callie if she would be her flower girl. So from August until April 19,\u00a0when she started down the aisle in Nathan\u2019s arms, flower basket in hand, she talked constantly about her upcoming job.<\/p>\n<p>And boy did she relish her role! With a happy, yet serious, smile on her face, she dropped the petals one by one\u2014on her way in and out of the ceremony.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_650\" style=\"width: 199px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.calliegolden.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/callie-dad-4-19.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-650\" class=\"wp-image-650 \" src=\"http:\/\/www.calliegolden.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/callie-dad-4-19-195x300.jpg\" alt=\"Callie and Nathan\" width=\"189\" height=\"291\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.calliegolden.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/callie-dad-4-19-195x300.jpg 195w, https:\/\/www.calliegolden.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/callie-dad-4-19.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 189px) 100vw, 189px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-650\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nathan helps Callie, the flower girl.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The wedding couldn\u2019t have been at a better time because Callie has had several illnesses this spring\u2014some before and some after the wedding. She would\u2019ve been heartbroken if she had\u00a0missed the wedding.<\/p>\n<p>As always, those illnesses took a toll on our family. We\u2019ve been concerned because she\u2019s never had so many problems in such quick succession. With each illness she becomes weaker and as a result, more vulnerable to complications. She finished her most recent course of antibiotics a week ago, and we\u2019re anxious to see her return to her typical strength.<\/p>\n<p>For now, we\u2019re looking forward to our extra time together this summer before our big girl heads off to kindergarten in the fall.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The event of the spring for our family was my sister\u2019s wedding.
