{"id":214,"date":"2011-03-31T18:56:52","date_gmt":"2011-03-31T22:56:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.calliegolden.org\/blog\/?p=214"},"modified":"2011-03-31T18:56:52","modified_gmt":"2011-03-31T22:56:52","slug":"great-to-be-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.calliegolden.org\/blog\/great-to-be-home\/","title":{"rendered":"Great to be home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Callie\u2019s been home from the hospital for a week, and we\u2019re grateful to have a more normal life for her and the rest of our family again.<\/p>\n<p>In the past week we\u2019ve settled into a plan for Callie&#8217;s nutrition.<\/p>\n<p>While she&#8217;s asleep we\u2019re using her new G-tube to give her calorie-rich formula and fluids. While she\u2019s awake she eats and drinks small amounts orally, based on her appetite.<\/p>\n<p>She is not yet getting the calories she needs, but we\u2019re slowly increasing the volume in her tube feedings based on how well she tolerates them.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re taking this process a lot more slowly than we did in the hospital, where tube feeding was making Callie miserable.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been great to have Callie back home. She was very excited to be back in preschool this week, and we hope to have her back in physical therapy as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re planning to get back on track with thank you notes, too. But for now we\u2019d like to thank everyone who has offered thoughts, prayers, money, food, cards, notes, child care, toys and other kinds of support.
